The VNEA State Team Tournament started on Friday, and after winning the SDABA Men's Open A Division with my men's team, Knuckle UNO, I played in this tournament with my women's team, the Knuckle Diamonds, in the Women's A division. We all played terrific, and after two days of pool, we found ourselves on the hill Sunday morning, on the winning side of the bracket with no losses.
However, 8:30 came REALLY early Sunday morning, and we weren't able to maintain our lead, with all of us struggling a bit. The Phoenix I, last year's champions, came up from the loser's bracket, and after an extremely close first match, which came down to the 16th game of the match, they beat us again in the second match, not even having to play the last game.

The Phoenix I
Oh well, for a relatively new team, we lost to some very strong competition and a seasoned team, and both teams played a terrific match! Congratulations Phoenix I, and we hope to see you again next year!!!!!!!
A big CONGRATULATIONS also goes out to the Vale Bar Last Call, winning the Open C Divsion.
Way to go guys!!!!!
After losing their first first match to Kelly's Dragon Fury, The Breakroom #1 came back to win the Open AA Team Division. Congratulations to both teams for a great match!!!!!

2009 South Dakota VNEA State 8-Ball Tournament
On Wednesday, March 18, 2009, the South Dakota VNEA State 8-Ball Tournament started in Rapid City. The singles tournament began on Wednesday, with the finals matches being held Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening, and the team tournament began on Friday, March 20.
Jackie Gerkin of Belle Fourche won first place in the Women's A Division. Way to go, Jackie!!!!
In the Men's A Division, Allen Duprel of Sturgis lost his first match of the tournament, then had two long days of pool to come all the way through the loser's bracket to meet up with Chad Pew for the championship match. Allen had to beat Chad twice, but he got it done, and after all of his years of pool, and who knows how many state titles with his team (I know I don't enough fingers and toes!!!), he has his own well-deserved State Championship!!!!! Way to go Allen!!!!!!!!!!
