SDABA State 10-Ball Tournament

A beautiful morning at Cow Creek Recreation Area, about 18 miles from Pierre

Usually our Memorial Day Weekend is filled with fishing, but this year we had to try something new. The South Dakota Amateur Billiards Association held their first annual State 10-Ball Tournament in Pierre, South Dakota, with both singles and team divisions. My women's team, the Knuckle Diamonds, couldn't pass up the fun, and my husband was also going to play in both the singles and the team division, so we passed up our annual fishing trip to Tobin Lake in Saskatchewan, Canada, and decided to head to Pierre for a weekend of pool instead!

Tom Thompson

Jackie Gerkin

Full moon over the Chicago and Northwestern Bridge, which was built in 1907.

Not something seen every day!

Pat Thompson making the call...the shot is considered a scratch and the incoming player gets ball in hand.

Doug Gerkin

Vicky Glatt of the Knuckle Diamonds!

Never too young to start the great game of billiards!

We haven't used our camper yet this year, so we thought this might be a good time, and we decided to let our boat tag along too...just in case we didn't do well in the tournament!

Losing isn't always a bad thing, especially if you had the foresight to bring along a boat!

Our next boat! Now, off to buy that lottery ticket....
